Julia Moore is an Associate Director at the Stanford Institute for Innovation in Developing Economies, which seeks to stimulate, develop, and disseminate research and innovations that enable entrepreneurs, managers, and leaders to alleviate poverty in developing economies.
Julia brings to the Institute a diverse career as an investor and operator, working extensively with entrepreneurs and growing businesses internationally. Prior to her work at Stanford, Julia was the Director, Business Development and Strategy at TriVascular, Inc., where she drove the company’s expansion into Europe and led negotiations for a strategic partnership in Japan. During this time, she also raised $60 million for the company’s Series C investment round and led ongoing investor and strategic partner relationships. Earlier, Julia was an investor with Kearny Venture Partners, a $330 million healthcare venture capital fund focused on investments across all stages. While at KVP, she led diligence and negotiations on multiple investments and worked closely with the fund’s portfolio. Julia began her career in equity research at Thomas Weisel Partners where she covered healthcare IT and pharmaceutical services. She graduated from the University of Virginia’s McIntire School of Commerce with degrees in Finance and International Business and was in the Bioethics interdisciplinary program. Julia is also a Kauffman Fellow.
