On June 24th, 2019, in Sofia, Bulgaria, CEED Bulgaria hosted more than 100 guests from over 10 countries at the Inter Expo Center for a discussion on how to foster social entrepreneurship and share tools for boosting social impact investment in the region. The event was organized within the framework of the “Boost Aid for Social Entrepreneurship through Training” project, funded by the EU Erasmus+ Programme.

 

The international conference “Investing in Social Challenges” has drawn the attention of stakeholders of social entrepreneurship development in Bulgaria, Greece, UK, Belgium and other countries from the region. These stakeholders met to discuss methods of fostering social entrepreneurship through upgrading their knowledge and skills and by learning about tools for improving social impact in business.

 

The participants included social entrepreneurs, impact enablers, business leaders, think-tanks, policy makers, professionals that advise social enterprises, institutional investors, social impact fund managers, bank managers, business angels, professional organizations, etc. Some of the keynote speakers at the event included Dr. Béatrice Bellini, Director of Positive Business Chair at Paris Nanterre University, Ms. Ewa Konczal, CEE Manager at the European Venture Philanthropy Association (EVPA), Mr. Ben Botes, General Partner at Seedslife Caban Impact Investment LLP, and others.

 

The conference is one of several Green Innovation and Sustainable Economy initiatives that CEED Bulgaria is implementing in order to promote entrepreneurial values and build a well-functioning, eco-friendly entrepreneurial ecosystem in Bulgaria and the surrounding countries.
